Hokianga Country Music

About the Club.

The Hokianga Country Music Club is based in Opononi on the Hokianga Harbour, top of the North Island, New Zealand.

The purpose of our club is to encourage country music among people of all ages at the same time promoting through our country music festival Hokianga as the ideal holiday destination.

The club was established in 1999 , membership has grown since then to around 150. Our members come from as far north as Kaitaia at the top of the island to Gore way down in the South Island.

We have a resident band and a core group of singers whose varied styles of country music give our club its popularity and uniqueness. They are complemented by our troop of energetic linedancers who join in the club visits to hotels, fundraisers and other venues and we all have a great time.

Our club hosts the Hokianga Country Music Festival. - a country music weekend extravaganza with a kiwi flavour that attracts country musicians and country music lovers from all around New Zealand.

We raise funds for the festival by entertaining at venues in Kaitaia, Bay of Islands, Whangarei, Dargaville and local places around the Hokianga.

This year will be our 11th Festival the dates are September 24, 25,and,26th 2010 and the festival committee have already got the fundraising wagon wheels rolling.

This event always ensures a great weekend of warm Hokianga hospitality jam packed with 'nothin but country' music performed by local musicians and acts from around New Zealand.
